DeGuire Residence

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project scope included an addition of a covered porch, deck with a hot tub and a four-car garage.  The home is a mid-century modern home in the Northcrest neighborhood of Tucker.  Being a corner lot, the property had the space necessary for the project.  The new porch is over an existing marble floor, with new concrete steps and a perimeter foundation system to support the new roof structure.  The new roof angles up, affording views from the porch into the tall trees on the property.

The new deck is off of the master bedroom.  Privacy from the neighbors is achieved by its placement on the property and the existing lush landscaping.

The garage is attached to the house by an enclosed breezeway with jalousie window and sliding glass doors, to facilitate circulation to the rear of the house.  Because of zoning setbacks, the new garage is designed for tandem parking.  The roof of the garage is a butterfly roof that is in keeping with the mid-century style of the original house.  The rainwater from the garage and porch roofs will be harvested for landscape irrigation.

Interior work includes updating the Jack and Jill bathroom to create a new master bath, plus adding new pocket doors opening to a dressing room (converted bedroom).
